Born in Hudson NY, 1752, David Mead visited the area in 1787 and settled in 1788. When remains were transmitted from the old cemetery on Randolph Street, the largest bones were thought to be those of David Mead. At the invitation of the Gill family, these were placed in the Gill family lot.
